instant quaker reddit

zachalexander just created a quaker reddit for the online Quaker community. He blogged about it on his LiveJournal and thus I couldn't help but give him a shout-out here.

Best of luck growing your new reddit. Hopefully it develops as quickly as some of that instant oatmeal. I have a feeling there won't be many flamewars or trolls on a Quaker reddit.

Remember, zachalexander, you can customize the look of your reddit with a little CSS, or simply change the logo. Not that I have any suggestions...

philosophy reddit is taking utah state by storm

I stumbled across a blog entry on the Utah State University Philosophy Departments website that reviewed our philosophy reddit community. Now I feel like I ought to design a custom logo for them, but Rodin's Thinker just seemed too cliche.

One quote that philosophy reddit submitter irony was most accurate:

Many of the regular users are really quite sharp, and they do not suffer fools gladly!
With some luck, a few new people interested in philosophy discovered reddit as a result. Thought, it may come back to haunt them around finals once they learn what it does to productivity...

reddit does economics

The economics reddit community has grown quite nicely since we opened up user-generated reddits. As a result, they earned a customized reddit logo. I flashed back to my ECON 201 class at least thrice during the creation of the logo. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Supply and demand curves will probably haunt me in my sleep tonight.
